We here at Whepstead pride ourselves on giving our dogs the best care we possibly can. We have been open since 2019. We saw a huge gap in the market for top boarding with a difference. Putting a dog in a conventional kennel environment can be very stressful for your precious members of the family and here at Whepstead we offer your dog a home away from home where they are part of our family for the duration of the stay. We charge £30 for any day stay prior to a longer visit and then £40 per overnight stay . They will stay indoors with our pets Zara Mushi and Mabel our dogs and have the added benefit of walks on 12 acres of secure grounds to play in. We love all the dogs we have to stay and treat them like our own and that’s what makes a difference.
We are based in West Suffolk in the village of Whepstead, just 4 miles from Bury St Edmunds.
We have the council licence renewed and after our visit, they have given us the top rating of 5 stars.(2024)

What we do
Our 12 acre garden allows our guests to have space and freedom to really exercise and explore in a truly rural setting which is fenced completely and secure.This approach is very different from many of the alternatives locally due to the space we have available and with only 5 guests at a time we can devote lots of love and attention to them individually.
We think it is very important for the mental health of our guest to have lots of different toys to keep the mind active from lick mats, gongs stuffed with treats, frizbees balls, tug toys and a paddling pool in the summer, ruffle ball plus soft toys for cuddles at night.
With our experience we now have an array of different beds and blankets to suit all types of guests and give them the best possible experience and comfort.

For us, the primary need when looking for a place to look after our dogs, is that they will be safe. With substantial and fenced grounds, the Dog Hotel has this is spades. It’s also important that they will be properly looked after by someone who loves dogs and has the experience and knowledge to understand them properly. Finally, it’s vital that the dogs will enjoy their stay – as if it’s their holiday too! The facilities are comfortable and clean.

We have nothing but praise for The Dog Hotel. We go away with full reassurance that our two miniature schnauzers, Axl and Ava, will receive all the love and very best of care. Every time we collect them they are so obviously “at home” and comfortable with stand-in mum, Fiona. They love the all-important walks in the expansive grounds. They eat well and sleep soundly in their crates, just as at home. It is wonderful for us to know that they are happy – from the very moment we turn up to drop them off. No hesitation in recommending.
